Real sentences for real situations, for children and teens who already know some Chinese and want to speak more.
This course is about speaking. Each lesson takes one everyday situation and practises the sentences you actually need in it.
It suits children and teens who want to talk with Chinese family or friends, get ready for a trip to China, or simply stop freezing up when someone speaks Chinese to them.
Every class has a new topic. We listen, repeat, and then use the sentences in short role-plays.
Each topic comes with its own words, sentence patterns and short dialogues.
Learn how to greet people formally and casually, introduce yourself and others, and make small talk in Chinese.
Order food, say what you like and don't like, and ask what's in a dish.
Ask how much something costs, compare things, and talk about colours and sizes.
Buy a ticket, ask the way, and get around by metro, bus or taxi.
Talk about sports, games, music and what you do after school.

Start learning →In Chinese, 又…又 is used to link verbs or adjectives to show that two situations exist at the same time. We learn grammar like this through real sentences, not isolated rules.
Each lesson picks one topic that fits your child's age and interests.
We go through the words and sentence patterns, then practise them in short conversations.
After every lesson you get a PDF with the key sentences and grammar points to review at your own pace.

Some basic Chinese helps, since the focus is on speaking and building fluency. If your child is a complete beginner, we usually suggest starting with our regular lessons first and moving into conversation practice once they have a foundation. Contact us and we will advise on the best starting point.
Lessons are taught in Mandarin and English, with more Chinese used as confidence grows. The aim is to get your child speaking naturally rather than translating in their head.
Conversation lessons take place live via Zoom, so your child can join from home. When our teachers are in the Netherlands, in-person lessons in Amsterdam are sometimes possible too.
Both work well. A 1-on-1 lesson gives maximum speaking time and a fully personal pace, while a small group adds the fun of practising with peers of a similar level.
Book a lesson through our booking page and we will arrange a time that suits you. If you are not sure whether conversation practice is the right fit, send us a message first and we will help you decide.
